It seems these days that everywhere you look people are either staring down at their phones or are walking around clueless with headphones or earbuds in their ears.
But there are times when people feel the need to share whatever music they are listening to and refuse to don the headgear.
United Airlines has announced that such behaviour is unacceptable on their aircraft and will begin taking action against those who refuse to wear headphones.
Now a part of their Refusal to Transport section of the Conditions of Carriage rules includes that they have the right to deny anyone who refuses to wear headphones entry on the plane and may even ban them from the airline permanently!
United issued a statement saying, “we’ve always encouraged customers to use headphones when listening to audio content — and our Wi-Fi rules already remind customers to use headphones. With the expansion of Starlink, it seemed like a good time to make that even clearer by adding it to the contract of carriage.”
For passengers who boarded the plane without headgear may get a free pair for the flight.
In the film “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” a rock fan has his boom box turned up spewing some rather offensive hard rock music on the bus. After he refuses to turn it off, Mr. Spock does his nerve pinch move and renders the man unconscious and turning off the “music” and eliciting a round of applause from the passengers on the bus.
In the UK, laws are already in place banning anti-social behaviour on public transportation which includes playing music on phones and other devices without headgear.
