On February 28 the NAACP held their annual Image Awards ceremony where they honour the best in entertainment, online, writing, and literature.  The ceremony is the culmination of three days of awards presentations for the 57th annual awards.

The film “Sinners” earned four awards as a part of the Creative Arts ceremony for a total of 10 awards over the multi-night presentations.  The television comedy “Abbott Elementary” earned three awards.

“Straw” and “Celebrity Family Feud” also won multiple awards.

Jane Handcock and BJ the Chicago Kid honoured Angie Stone and D’Angelo with a performance.  Mali Music also gave a performance.

The Mildred Bond Roxborough Social Justice Impact Award was presented to Rev. Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant and Dr. Mary Anne Franks was the recipient of the NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award.

Female artists were the big winners in the musical categories with the Outstanding Album award going to a female artist for the eighth year in a row and the Best New Artist award was presented to a female artist for the sixth year in a row.
