Daily writing prompt
Something on your “to-do list” that never gets done.

In my endless attempt to at least match the number of emails read with the number of emails saved after the pile that is trashed, is at best a losing one.

I get in the neighbourhood of 200 emails each day. Just imagine the pile if it was real paper snail mail…I’d be buried before I could clear out the junk!

Even on days when I only have a few that end up remaining in the mail box, I can’t seem to make much headway. As a sheriff I officer I once knew said, it’s a rat race and the rats are winning!

A while back, I gave up on some of the older emails – Covid days – and just threw them out. Much of the news would be too old to write about. I kept the obituary notices; eventually I will get around to them. Way backed up on that too! Recent family deaths have caused a delay in that area.

Every year, I make an unofficial New Year’s resolution to get more of the emails done, but it is a hopeless wish.

I do what I can and write as much as possible and let the rest go. I am a one person show and can only write so much at one time.

It is a foregone conclusion that my email box will never get properly cleared out of mail. One of these days someone will come along and throw it all out. But at that time, it will not matter because I will either be too incapacitated to work or as they say pushing up daisies.
