Last week, Tom Felton – who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Pooter film franchise – joined the cast of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” to reprise his role. And helped the play to bring in nearly $3 million at the box office! The $2.97 million draw was the biggest box office in the history of the show. The show was one of four productions in the Million Dollar Club to bring in more than a million.
Falling just short of the million dollar mark, with a draw of $877,244; “The Queen of Versailles” has already announced a closing date early next year.
One week shy of the annual Thanksgiving Day events and the official beginning of the holiday season, Broadway brought in $40,638,869 across 34 shows.
And leading the way at the box office last week was “Hamilton” who brought in over $3.5 million in Leslie Odom Jr’s final full week in his Tony Award winning role as Aaron Burr. His final performance is November 26.
Even with half of the performances being heavily comped, the revival of “Chess” still brought in $2 million!
Four of the top five box office draws last week were over $2 million. Half of the 34 currently running made it into the Million Dollar Club.
Last season Broadway brought in the top grossing box office in history…and so far, this year is ahead of that by over 10%!
