Who doesn’t????
Singer Jim Croce had a song called “Time in a Bottle”, song that became very poignant after he was killed in a plane crash.
“If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day ’til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you”
In their song “Time”, Culture Club calls “Time” the clock of the heart”. They also note that “time won’t give me time”.
But what is time besides marking the days with ticks of a clock? It marks the days, but it is what we do with those days that matter most.
But, no matter how you break it up, there never seems to be enough of it. There is always more to do.
I quit trying to break up the day to try and have enough time to get some things done; but it never seemed to work. There was always something to interfere or get in the way. A quick phone call turns into an extended event. A friend calls unexpectedly, the race goes into overtime after a red flag …stuff happens. That World Series game was supposed to end after nine innings – about three hours…instead, it was six hours and 39 minutes!!! Two games in one – 18 innings! Worth it for sure, but so much for getting much work done :)!
I figure I do what I can and make the best of it.
Time…finite and infinite, but there’s never enough of it. We will all go to our graves wishing…if you we had more time!
