Daily writing prompt
What have you been putting off doing? Why?

It has been nearly a year since I moved, but my apartment looks more like it has been just a month.

Although a lot of stuff was sorted and donated before the move and some stuff never made the trip; there is still a lot of things to go through and figure where to put or store them. Like many apartments in my town, it is part of a house that has been divided into units.

Which means there is hardly ever much in the way of storage if there is any at all. My only “closet” is a space under the stairs leading to the apartment upstairs.

And there are some things that I will NOT get rid of, no matter what – my music, my photos and cameras, and my writing stuff. For many years I keep a copy of everything I had published. Since everything is digital now, I have not kept up with it as much, but there are still thousands of articles in notebooks. I also have a five drawer filing cabinet that is stuffed to the gills of press releases, research, and the like from articles I have written. There are items in that cabinet that are over 30 years old.

When I went to Russia I kept a journal and there are dozens of volum es of that journal.

So, the quandary continues as to what to do with the stuff that is still sitting on the floor waiting to be sorted. And I have to admit that there are times when I am overwhelmed with the whole affair. (it just plum evades me) :).

But there is also a question of timing. Since the move, I have spent more time concentrating on this website and making it work. In the seven years since I created the site, I have not seen a single cent. They don’t pay out until the amount reaches $100, but I am not anywhere close to reaching that amount.

The site is monetized and there are ads on every page, but so far I have earned only $37.34 and not one penny for the past three months. I figured out that I earn about a penny for every 1,100 page views.

Word Press says that I have over 500 subscribers but I get less than 10% of that in page views each day. The only way I have seen the page views go up is more articles.

How do you market a news site with a zero dollar budget??? Facebook sure isn’t helping.

I figure the boxes and bins can wait while I try to figure out how to make this thing work. So far, I don’t seem to be very successful at it.
