There was a time when musicians released several albums a year instead of several years between albums.  Country music star Vince Gill is returning to those days with a plan to release a new EP every month over the next year.

Gill has just signed a lifetime record deal with MCA and his first project is “50 Years from Home” – a series of 12 EP records released over the next year.

Each EP will have its own theme and feature a mix of new music and songs from Gill’s extensive catalog.

The first release – “50 Years From Home: I Gave You Everything I Had” is set for October 17.  Included in the EP is the multiplatinum song “Go Rest High on that Mountain”.

President & CEO of MCA Mike Harris spoke on Vince Gill saying, “Vince has been a major part of the MCA family for decades.  This lifetime agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting his artistic vision and providing him artistic freedom while ensuring his legacy continues to grow.”

Speaking on the new project Vince Gill said, “I’m feeling the most creative I’ve ever felt in my career these last few years.  I’ve collected a treasure trove of songs and with my friends and partners at MCA we’ve come up with a way to release all this new music. It’s a partnership that’s lasted 36 years and I’m grateful for it.”

Longtime manager Larry Fitzgerald added, “MCA Records has been Vince’s home since early in his career, and now he knows their partnership will endure into the future. Vince’s fans wanting his music won’t have to look any further than MCA to find it. My relationship with Vince began 41 years ago and I’m thrilled to stand with him at this important moment.”

Over the course of his career Vince Gill has amassed nearly two billion global streams, some 20 million American album sales, two gold albums, three gold singles, five platinum albums, six multi-platinum albums, and one multi-platinum single.

His trophy room includes 18 CMA (Country Music Association) Awards,  22 Grammy Awards, a BMI Icon Award, and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
