It was light week for penalties after the races at Kansas Speedway last weekend; but it also lightened the wallet of one driver, citing some bad behaviour.
Late in the Cup Series race Carson Hocevar spun out and came to a stop on the track. As usual, track safety workers were quickly on the scene to attend to Hocevar and his car.
While workers were attending the incident, Hocevar revved his engine and spun the tires despite having at least one flat tire.
Such behaviour is a violation of the NASCAR rule book Sections 4.4.B&D: NASCAR Member Conduct. As a result, officials have fined Hocevar $50,000.
Hocevar returned to the track after the incident finishing the race four laps down in 29th.
In the Xfinity Series, the number 48 Big Machine Racing car driven by Nick Sanchez was charged with a lug nut infraction for not having all 20 lug nuts properly secured. As a result the team was fined $5,000 for a single lug nut improperly secured.
