When Denny Hamlin was held two laps after one of his wheels came off the car on the track at Bristol Motor Speedway last Saturday night, the team knew there was more to come.
On Tuesday (Sept 16) NASCAR suspended front tire changer Austin Maloney and jackman Joel Bouagnon for the next two races.
When the right front tire came off of Hamlin’s car, Hamlin made contact with AJ Allmendinger to bring out a caution flag and cause damage to Allmendinger’s car.
Hamlin’s was the only penalty from NASCAR this week.
The number 47 car driven by Ricky Stenhouse Jr and the number 71 car driven by Michael McDowell were chosen to go to the NASCAR Research & Development Center for further inspection; NASCAR has announced that the cars are clean and no further action is needed.
