Once cars have gone through the inspection process, there are very few adjustments the crews are allowed to make without penalty.
Crew chief Rudy Fugle for the number 24 car driven by William Byron has been ejected for the remainder of the weekend after he was seen making adjustments to the splitter on the 24 car. NASCAR noted that the struts had been reinstalled. As a result, NASCAR sent the car back through inspection where it failed measurements.
Fugle was ejected and the 24 team loses its pit stall selection privileges. Byron will have to start the race from the back of the field and serve a passthrough penalty once the green flag flies. After the starting lineup for the Coke Zero 400 was set via the NASCAR metric due to lightening, Byron was placed in eighth place.
The Live Fast Motorsports number 78 car driven by BJ McLeod failed the inspection process twice; as a result, car chief Lee Leslie has been ejected and the car will lose their pit stall selection privileges.
