A joyous celebration quickly turned to a scary moment when Xfinity Series race winner Connor Zilisch was climbing out of his car and got a foot entangled with the window net causing the 19 year old driver to fall and land on the hard surface of Victory Lane.

After being secured to a backboard, Zilisch was transferred to the Watkins Glen International infield care center where it was reported that he was alert and communicating with workers. He was later to a local hospital where scans showed no head trauma or concussion but he does have a broken collarbone.

As a result of the injury, Trackhouse Racing has withdrawn the number 87 car entry and Zilisch will not complete the triple header this weekend.  He is at the track but not wearing a fire suit.

After being released from the hospital, Zilisch expressed his thanks to safety personnel and praising their rapid response to applying aid.

Zilisch’s Watkins Glen win is his sixth Xfinity Series win this season driving the number 88 car for JR Motorsports.

Earlier this season, Zilisch was involved in a crash at Talladega Superspeedway and missed the race at Texas with a back injury.  Kyle Larson took over the driving duties for Zilisch at Texas and drove the 88 car to win the checkered flag.
