If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?

Brick an mortar stores are a very big gamble these days with a majority of the people shopping online.

But there was a time that I had really thought about opening a music store. I wasn’t sure if it would be the record/CD type, sheet music, or instruments and music.

I wonder if it would be possible to open one with all three???

But then I became a journalist and interested in photography. Over the years I have collected quite a large collection of photographs and even tried selling a few on the street one year. But people don’t want to pay you for your work; so I doubt that would work out at all.

A gallery might work out a little better, there’s that people not wanting to pay for artistic endeavours. Not a musician alive has not heard the expression about getting “a real job”. Art related jobs require just as much work as an office worker, shop keeper, or health worker.

But after managing a shop and seeing the headaches a friend deals with at their pharmacy, I am very content to do what I do now…even if it pays nothing.

Let’s face it, you definitely don’t get into any job that requires page views or streaming to make a living…not with the joke they call a payment. It’s the ultimate “we pretend to work as long as they pretend to pay us” kind of vibe.
