The Red Cross and hospitals depend on volunteers to keep the supply of blood stocked. Metal rockers Metallica have launched a drive to help keep the supply flowing.
During their M72 U.S. tour dates, they hosted numerous blood drives; now they are launching the Give Where You Live campaign.
Any person who signs up to donate blood or platelets at RedCrossBlood.org/Metallica and keeps their appointment from now to February 28, 2026 anywhere in the U.S. will be entered to win a Squindo designed one-of-a-kind ESP Snakebyte guitar, featuring the exclusive Red Cross x Metallica autographed by the members of Metallica. And while supplies last, volunteers who used the RedCrossBlood.org/Metallica site to sign up and keeps the appointment will also receive a limited-edition T-shirt.
More than 2,000 metalheads rolled up their sleeves to donate blood and platelets during the M72 tour.
Executive director of national partnerships for the Red Cross Darren Irby said, “the difference Metallica and their fans have made shows the commitment of the band and their community to patients in need. This partnership has resonated not only with our regular blood donors, but those who have been moved to donate for the first time. The need for blood is ongoing and we are thrilled to continue to offer a brand new, exclusive thank-you to Metallica fans who want to make a difference for those all across our country facing traumatic injuries or chronic illness and need blood to feel better or celebrate another day of life.”
