What do you listen to while you work?

I have discovered over the years that a quiet environment like the local library just is not conducive to my creativity.

In college and later, I could do much better when I was in some establishment that sold food and had music – even if it was just the “canned” variety. Oddly enough, I got a lot more work done while sitting for two hours at the local Hard Rock Cafe then I did sitting at home . Covid changed my weekly trips to the HRC , but perhaps it is time to renew the habit.

My personal preference at home is New Age or “chill out music” seems to be the best for firing up the brain cells, but sometimes I wonder if isn’t the beat of the music itself that gets them moving and firing off.

But nature has a musical sound of its own, with the sound of roaring water and rustling trees. There’s always been something about the sound of the water to spark some creativity.
