How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

Growing up around people with varying degrees of visual acuity, I have learned how to describe surroundings, food on a plate, and even guiding someone.

But describing myself is something very different. I try to be humble and not a braggard; nor do I consider myself anything remotely related to good looks. I enjoy many things, and am pretty good at some; but do not consider myself an expert at anything.

Though not a Little Person, I am rather short in stature. I have a kid sized face; my own glasses come from the children’s shelf :).

I also have rather small hands, like a certain political leader, which can be a real issue when I am trying to play my guitar.

When it comes to personality, I try to be helpful whenever I can and am willing to assist when needed if I can. I am a bit of a logical thinker, I think things through before speaking or making commenting. And I am my father’s daughter…off beat humour and all.

I love music and am ready to talk about the subject for hours on end. I thrive on learning new things…which might help to describe why I am such an avid reader.

Having grown up around people who are blind, I know that yelling is not the way to communicate and just because someone has a disability does not automatically mean they are not intelligent. What I look like is not what is important; how I react to them is!
