As if her weren’t already having a bad week, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel has upheld the disqualification penalty against Stewart Friesen and his Halmar Friesen Racing number 52 truck.

After the Craftsman Truck Series TSport 200 race at Indianapolis Raceway Park, NASCAR officials ruled that Stewart Friesen’s 52 truck failed the ride height requirements.  As a result Friesen was disqualified from his third place finish and placed in last place and earning just two points.

In their ruling the NMAP said, “the panel agrees that the team violated Rule 14.17.3.2.1.2.A. There was a part failure that is not known if it was intentional or unintentional, resulting in failure of front ride height.”

Just three days later, Friesen was racing in a Super DIRTcar Series race at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec when he hit the dirt cushion up by the wall and sent his car into a multiple spin barrel roll.  As a result of the crash, Friesen has a fractured pelvis and right leg that will require multiple surgies.

Stewart Friesen won the race on June 7 at Michigan International Speedway; but with the injuries, he is out for at least the remainder of the season.
