In 1973 Fleetwood Mac members Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham released an album “Buckingham Nicks”; back before they joined Fleetwood Mac but were a couple.
On July 23, 2025, the duo announced that they would be releasing the album. Last available on vinyl in 1981, the album currently is not available on any streaming platform.
A remastered edition of the album is being released on September 19. The single “Crying in the Night” was made available today for streaming. The new album release will include a CD and as a digital download.
In their early 20’s when the album was recorded, Nicks noted, “it was a very natural thing, from the beginning.”
Buckingham added, “it stands up in a way you would hope it would, by these two kids who were pretty young to be doing that work.”
Buckingham reportedly told “Uncut” in 2011 that they had “every intention of putting that album back out and possibly even doing something along with it, but I can’t put any specifics on that.” As it turned out, Fleetwood Mac released a new album “Extended Play” in 2013 – their first in 10 years.
While Nicks was not satisfied with the original album cover, the album is being released with the original album cover – one Nicks said she, “felt like a rat in a trap”, during the photo shoot.
In an interview with MOJO in 2103 Nicks said, “I’m actually quite prudish. So when they suggested they shoot Lindsey and I nude I could not have been more terrified if you’d asked me to jump off a speeding train. Lindsey was like, ‘Oh, come on — this is art. Don’t be a child!’ I thought, ‘Who are you? Don’t you know me?’”
