We’ve all heard the fairy tale “Cinderella” dozens of times as children; but Jennifer Lopez is looking to put a new spin on the story. The limited series will tell the story from the point of view of the fairy godparents.
Currently in development, the limited series is reportedly will be airing on Disney+. No production schedule, release date, or cast has been announced.
Currently Rachel Shukert is writing the series; she will also be running the show and serving as executive producer.
The new adaptation of “Cinderella” is just the latest in a long list of musicals being adapted for a serial. A prequel of “Grease” – “Rise of the Pink Ladies” streamed in 2023; and adaptations of “Oklahoma” and “A Chorus Line” are reportedly in development.
Back in 1972, the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “The King and I” was adapted to the non-musical series “Anna and the King” but only lasted one season.
“Cinderella” has seen numerous adaptations since first appearing over 60 years ago as films, stage productions, and animations.
