Broadway lost another show last week, but they went out with a bang. The revival of the Tony Award winning musical “Sunset Boulevard” closed out its most recent run with a record setting week. “Sunset Boulevard” was one of four shows that topped the list of the Million Dollar Club and is on the list of the 90 percent club.
The final show of “Sunset Boulevard” at the St. James Theatre brought in the take at the box office for the day and its entire run at over $500,000.
Even with just 29 shows running last week, Broadway brought in nearly $34 million at the box office.
The Tony Award winning musical “Maybe Happy Ending” also saw its biggest week at the box office at $1.35 million.
While seeing nothing like the ticket prices for the George Clooney play “Good Night, and Good Luck”; “Just in Time” – the Bobby Darin musical – is currently topping the list for ticket prices with an average of $231; top ticket prices are running over $500 each. The show continues to have standing room only crowds at over 100 percent audience capacity.
A total of 18 or the 29 shows made it into the Million Dollar Club last week.
