Over the years, artists have had to postpone or cancel tour dates for numerous reasons from illness, border issues, and even disasters.  But Steve Miller has recently cancelled his entire tour for a rather unique reason – the weather!

The Steve Miller Band was set to launch a tour of the United States next month; but instead has cancelled that tour citing the recent severe weather conditions from floods to extreme heat and a concern over the possible dangers to the band, crew, and fans.

Miller issued a statement saying “the combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable. You can blame it on the weather. … The tour is cancelled.”

Some of the recent extreme weather events that have descended on the U.S. included a heat dome in the east, flash floods in Texas, extreme heat at the Coachella Music Festival, and heavy rainfall in Tennessee that caused a cancellation of the annual Bonnaroo Music Festival.  June 1 began the annual hurricane season that lasts until November 30.

Scientists are saying that the weather extremes are being caused by climate change.
