What are you most worried about for the future?
It isn’t often that I have sat down and really thought about what’s to come – the future. I try to take things as they come, because things seldom come out the way they are planned.
But over the past few years, there have been times that I have really questioned what is going on in the world.
DISCLAIMER:
The following is my opinion and nothing more! I have no influence of events, or what others think or feel!
During the 2016 presidential election, I was pretty sure that America would not elect a known con man to the White House…I was wrong. But then again, Americans would do anything to keep a woman out of the White House.
Then came Covid and changed everything! My world as a music journalist came to a screeching halt. No more concerts and local musical performances. Before Covid, I was out covering a show at least once a week…sometimes two and three times.
With Covid, I was relegated to whatever news pieces I could find or received via email.
But, as the world recovered and returned to some resemblance of normal, my sources of information had dried up and I have been to very few shows. But there is always plenty of news to write about and report.
The next election brought a change and a hope for things to come…
And as if the first time around wasn’t bad enough, they did it again!!!!! All because the voters cannot deal with the thought of a woman in charge of the country. The first time I was sure it would never happen, the second time I was terrified that it would.
Over the past six months, it just feels like everything has gone from bad to worse…and there is no sign of it getting any better. Budgets are being slashed, and agencies are being torn apart to the point where services are no longer available at best and people can’t use what is available.
People are being rounded up like a pack of wild animals and thrown to the wolves – the same people who are largely responsible for harvesting the produce, slaughter and pack the meat, and even do the building. America is being destroyed from the bottom up; while the richest keep getting richer. It never changes.
Social media is filled with people who think it is just fine to eliminate any and all safety net programs; failing to understand that it is only the beginning of the total downfall.
The Roman Empire failed, not because of the majority poor; but because of the few rich whose only concern was their extravagance…and the United States is quickly following in their footsteps with a stop at Nazi Germany along the way.
My ancestors were not only among those that settled this country; but helped to bring others to “The New World” as well. But there are days that if I could, I would gladly leave.
What am I most worried about the future??? That we may not even HAVE a future…or at least one that will be worth living.
