The Cup Series caps off the weekend of racing with some Saturday night racing at Echo Park Speedway in Atlanta.
There is a full field of 40 drivers for the race.
The race at Echo Park also kicks off the five race In Series Challenge where the top 32 seeded drivers go head to head with the driver who finishes the highest of the two will move on to the next round.
The seeding was determined by the best finishes over the last three races – point standings were not involved in the rankings.
But first there is a qualifying run on a hot Friday afternoon.
Qualifying for the Xfinity Series was cut short due to lightening in the area and has delayed the start of qualifying for the Cup Series. Originally scheduled for two rounds, the drivers have only one round of qualifying to set the field.
When the green flag drops on Saturday night, it will be career Cup Series start number 200 for Tyler Reddick.
The first driver to make a qualifying run is David Starr who posted a time of 34.113 seconds around the mile and a half track.
After 13 drivers have been out on the track to make a qualifying run, NASCAR put qualifying on hold for lightening in the area. The area must be clear for at least 30 minutes before on track activities may continue. NASCAR has ordered everyone to in the garage or to seek shelter.
After a 30 minute delay, qualifying has resumed.
With a time of 30.979 seconds Joey Logano put his number 22 car on the pole with Josh Berry starting alongside on the front row.

Stage one is 60 laps with stages two and three will be 100 laps each for a total of 260 around the 1.5 mile track. The drivers can run around 70 laps on a single load of fuel.
There is plenty of open space down on the apron; but the yellow and white line at the bottom of the track is a no go line and the drivers cannot go below that or they will have to serve a penalty.
Justin Haley said that he has had two energy drinks and is “fired up”.

The top eleven drivers are less than one second apart.
The caution flag comes out on lap 36 for weather. David Starr is the “lucky dog”.
Ryan Blaney says that he is “wrecking loose”.
Chase Briscoe is reporting some major handling issues; saying that if feels like the tow link is broken.
NASCARA has brought the drivers down pit road to get the track dried up on lap 43.
Joey Logano says that his car can always be better.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is known for his skeleton gloves. This weekend 70 drivers across NASCAR are wearing the skeleton gloves. After the races the drivers will autograph them; along with Dale Jr, and then the gloves will be auctioned to benefit the Dale Earnhardt Foundation and the Nationwide Hospital. Junior has taken the gloves he wore last week as crew chief for Connor Zilisch and they will also be included in the auction.
After a 14 minute red flag, NASCAR calls for the drivers to start their engines and get moving again. Christopher Bell needs a push to get started.
The caution flag has been displayed and the cars are back out on the track.
Denny Hamlin started the race in 33rd and is still mired in the back of the field; he reports a tight condition in his car.
Drivers come down pit road for service; Kyle Busch wins the race off of pit road. Chase Briscoe has an extended pit stop while the crew tries to adjust the car.
Bubba Wallace has to go in the grass to avoid hitting Christopher Bell who jumped out.
Joey Logano brings the field down for the green flag restart with Austin Cindric alongside on lap 49. Getting a push from Brad Keselowski, Austin Cindric takes the lead. Drivers are three wide back in the field.
Lap 51, the top five are Austin Cindric, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Josh Berry, and William Byron.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr has had issues with Carson Hocevar that involved threats; both drivers are in the top 10.
The caution flag comes out on lap 57for a crash involving several drivers that started when Christopher Bell got loose and spun out. Austin Dillon, Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney, AJ Allmendinger, Bubba Wallace were all caught up in the wreck.
Stage one ends under caution with Austin Cindric winning the stage for his fourth stage win of the season.

And it’s the Big One on the backstretch. In a three wide battle drivers get stacked up and melee ensues. Joey Logano’s car is rocking as he tries to drive in down the track. NASCAR has red flagged the race for the second time. Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, Daniel Suarez, Kyle Busch, Shane van Gisbergen, Carson Hocevar, John Hunter Nemechek, Erik Jones, Ross Chastain, Corey LaJoie, BJ McLeod, William Byron, Josh Berry. Chase Briscoe, and Noah Gragson were all among those involved.
