Since earning her second win on “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, Jinkx Monsoon made a number of appearances on Broadway.
Monsson made her debut in “Chicago”, she is currently appearing in the musical “Pirates! The Penzance Musical” but next month she will be taking over the role of Mary in “Oh, Mary!” when Titus Burgess who resumes the role on June 23.
The limited engagement will run from August 4 to September 27.
Monsoon has also appeared in “Little Shop of Horrors”.
Speaking on taking the role, Monsson said in a statement, “now —I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Cole Escola is the funniest person alive. ‘Oh, Mary!’ is one of the best, funniest, most energizing things I’ve seen in my life. To be invited to live in this playground for a time is not only an honor and a privilege, but a lovely chance to showcase the writing talents of one friend, the directorial talents of another, and everything else that comes with this singular production. Happy to trade in one pair of bloomers for another.”
“Oh, Mary!” is the story of former First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to the President’s assassination.
