The 2024/25 Broadway season is officially over but many of the shows continue to run. “Good Night, and Good Luck” and “Othello” closed on June 8 just a few hours before the Tony Awards. In the coming weeks “Real Women Have Curves” and “Sunset Boulevard” are scheduled to close.
But a new Broadway Theatre season is on the way with a whole new cast of productions to thrill audiences.
A few shows on the horizon are:
As previously announced, “Mamma Mia” is making a return with a limited engagement revival at the sight of the original show – The Winter Garden Theatre – on August 2.
Keanu Reeves joins the cast of “Waiting for Godot” which is set for previews at the Hudson Theatre beginning September 13 with an official opening on September 28.
The musical “Ragtime” returns for a limited engagement at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on September 26 for previews and an official opening on October 16. The revival is set to run through January 4.
After opening in Boston, “The Queen of Versailles” comes to Broadway starring Kristen Chenoweth with previews on October 8 at the St. James Theatre; the official opening is set for November 9.
“Marjorie Prime” is scheduled for previews at the Hayes Theater on November 20 with an official opening on December 8.
Also at the Hayes Theater, the dark comedy “Becky Shaw” will open with previews on March 18 and an official opening on April 8.
“Chess” is set for a revival some time this fall at the Shubert Theatre but an official opening has not yet been announced.
Also set for a fall debut is the play “Punch” at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre but an official opening has not been announced.
Coming this fall to Studio 54 is the play “Oedipus”; an official opening date has not been announced.
With no official announcement of an opening date or venue, “Dog Day Afternoon” is expected to play on Broadway next spring.
The ever popular rock musical “The Rocky Horror Show” by Richard O’Brien is set for a spring debut at Studio 54 with no official opening date announced.
Also set for a spring debut, is the comedy “Fallen Angels” is coming to the Todd Haimes Theatre; no official date has been announced.
