The Swedish group ABBA became a big international hit and then the musical “Mamma Mia” based on the songs from the group followed suit in 2001. Now the musical is making a return to the Winter Garden Theatre beginning August 2 with an official opening August 14 in a limited engagement.
The cast is comprised of 25 Broadway debuts and “Mamma Mia” tour veterans.
After premiering in October 2001, the Broadway production of “Mamma Mia” ran for nearly 14 years.
