What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?

I was born in the age of rotary phones, three channel television, and the birth of FM radio. Growing up there was no zapping dinner in the microwave, streaming your favourite tunes, or wi-fi…there weren’t even any home computers.

For many any or all of these items are considered a luxury; but for others they are essential items in the home.

I have learned that my microwave – which is broken – is great but not essential, I can live without it…but there are a few things that I cannot live without…

There have been a few times that my Dad and I have had the conversation about people back in history who never took a bath! We could never survive back then. I have to have a bath/shower every day!

In “Shogun” Anjin San has to be “convinced” to take a bath – he thinks it would make him sick – but later he can’t wait to get in the bath after seeing his men.

There’s something about a warm shower that makes me feel better.

There is one thing that people may think is a luxury is my Kindle, but for me, it is an essential item; I never leave home without it, along with my wallet, phone, keys, and inhaler. With some 900 books in my Kindle, I can carry around a virtual personal library to fill any spare time…or while I am waiting…for whatever. Doing laundry…read while the clothes are washing and drying, have to wait for a ride…pull out the Kindle, eating…whip out the Kindle.

There are plenty of things in my life that are essential to me that others may think are luxuries.
