Last week saw the final week of performances for the musical “Redwood” starring Idina Menzel.  The musical saw a $200,000 boost at the box office.  The show announced a May 18 closing after not receiving any nods at the annual Tony Award nominations announcement on May 1.

But the George Clooney play “Good Night, and Good Luck” continues to top the list on Broadway as it fell just short of the $4 million mark again last week.  The top four shows in the Million Dollar Club topped $2 million at the box office.

Three of the top five grossing productions last week were plays with “wicked” and “The Lion King” holding their top five spots in the Million Dollar Club.

With a box office draw of $44.35 million last week and a near 20 percent increase over last year, it appears that Broadway has indeed recovered from the downturn of the Covid pandemic.
