On April 21, the NASCAR Hall of Fame announced the nominees for the 2026 class of the Hall of Fame
Two of the 15 nominees are very familiar to race fans as former championship drivers Kurt Busch and Randy LaJoie become eligible for the first time. Busch and LaJoie join the eight other nominees in the Modern Era category. The list also includes five nominees on the Pioneer Ballot for those whose NASCAR careers began over 60 years ago.
Busch and LaJoie join returning nominees Greg Biffle, Neil Bonnett, Tim Brewer, Jeff Burton, Randy Dorton, Harry Gant, Harry Hyde and Jack Sprague in the Modern Era and Jake Elder, Ray Hendrick, Banjo Matthews, Larry Phillips and Bob Welborn from the Pioneer Ballott.
A very familiar name to NASCAR fans is legendary promoter Humpy Wheeler is among the nominees for the Landmark Award for his outstanding contribution to NASCAR.
Wheeler joins Alvin Hawkins, Lesa France Kennedy, Dr. Joseph Mattioli and Les Richter as nominees for the Landmark Award.
The committee will meet on May 20 to determine the newest inductees into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
