On July 25 the Nick Drake Estate is releasing four disc package titled “Five Leaves Left”. The project has been nine years in the making. The package will be available in CD and vinyl LP formats.
The collection includes over 30 previously unreleased or heard outtakes that became Drake’s debut album “Five Leaves Left”.
The songs chosen for the first three discs were done to tell the story and not just haphazardly selected from the tapes. The final disc is the original album released in 1969 and is packaged with the original artwork.
The boxed set also includes a 60 page book filled with full recording details, charts and the recording history. There are also songs that were originally recorded in mono and were taken from a tape that had lain in a drawer for over 50 years.
