Broadway has always been filled with its share of star performers with the occasional foray from Hollywood making an appearance.  But over the past few years, Hollywood star appearances have been pretty common.

Recently music star and current lead singer for Queen Adam Lambert made a limited engagement in “Cabaret”, former Pussy Cat Doll Nichol Scherzinger is currently appearing in “Sunset Boulevard”, and award winning actors Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal are taking Broadway by storm with their performances in the Shakespearian play “Othello”.

As Broadway and Off-Broadway begins to crank out the spring shows, more stars will be moving from the big screen to the stage.

The award winning star in the comedy “Hacks”, Jean Smart is making her return to Broadway after an absence of over 20 years for the one person show, “Call Me Izzy” in a 12 week engagement.

Tony Award winning performer Kristin Chenoweth and F. Murray Abraham play wife and husband in the musical based on a true story “The Queen of Versailles”.

In its ever revolving cast, London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art alum Orville Peck will make his Broadway debut by taking over the emcee duties in “Cabaret” on March 31.  The Country music singer will remain in the role until July 20.

Beginning March 18 Tituss Burgess will take over the lead role in “Oh, Mary!” for a limited engagement that runs to April 6.  Speaking on the role Burgess said, “’Oh, Mary!’ blew me away when I saw it on Broadway.  Cole Escola is a genius! The show is fresh and impossibly funny. I understand the role of Mary Todd Lincoln maybe a little too well. I’m over the moon with joy that I get to join the company at The Lyceum Theatre.”

Michelle Williams is currently appearing in “Death Becomes Her”.

Six time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald continues her role as Mama Rose in “Gypsy”.

Tony and Academy Award winner Idina Menzel is currently appearing in “Redwood”

Calista Flockhart, Cooper Hoffman, and Christian Slater are all appearing in the Off-Broadway production “Curse of the Starving Class” until March 30.

Sarah Hyland is Daisy Buchanan in “The Great Gatsby”.

Paul Mescal sheds the garb of the Roman Empire to make his Broadway debut as Stanley Kowalski in “A Streetcar named Desire”.

Real life couple Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater lead a cast filled with Hollywood offspring in “Ghosts” until March 30.

Award winning actor Kieran Culkin, Bob Ednkirk, and Bill Burr have just begun previews for “Glengarry Glen Ross” with an official opening of March 31.

Andrew Scott crosses the pond to reprises his role in “Vanya” for an eight week limited engagement.  Currently in previews, the Off-Broadway production is scheduled for a March 18 opening.

Academy Award winning actor George Clooney makes his Broadway debut in “Good Night, and Good Luck”.  The stage adaptation of the film is set for a March 12 official opening.

Nick Jonas will be appearing in “The Last Five Years” beginning March 18.

Saide Sink returns to Broadway for the March 20 opening of “John Proctor is the Villain”.

Theatre legends Bernadett Peters and Lea Salonga will be starring in the Stephen Sondheim production “Old Friends” beginning March 25.

Folk pop artist Lizzy McAlpine will make her Broadway debut on March 27 in “Floyd Collins”.

Tony and Grammy Award winner Jonathan Groff will be playing the role of Bobby Darin in the “jukebox” musical “Justin in Time”.  The show will be set in a night club with a live band on stage.

Gracie Lawrence of the band Lawrence will also be in the show.

Since winning on “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, Jinkx Monsoon has made a number of appearances on Broadway including “Chicago” and “Little Shop of Horrors”.  Beginning April 4 she will be joining Ramin Karimloo and David Hyde Pier in a revival of “The Pirates of Penzance” titled “Pirates! The Penzance Musical”. 

Emmy Award winner Sarah Snook is in the one person show “The Picture of Dorian Gray” with an official opening set for March 21.

“Stranger Things” star Maya Hawke will be appearing in “Eurydice” beginning May 13 for a limited engagement.
