When you think of NASCAR and music, Country music is the first thing that often comes to mind; however, as the song goes, “The Times They Are A’ Changin’” and drivers listen to a wide variety of music and sometimes on their cars.
This weekend when NASCAR travels to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, driver of the number 42 Legacy Motor Club car John Hunter Nemechek will be bringing the Backstreet Boys along when he races around the 1.5 mile track.
The Backstreet Boys will be performing at the newest Las Vegas venue – Sphere, a state of the art venue with immersive sights and sound – beginning in July in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their album “Millennium”.
While a number of artists have played in Sphere including the Eagles and U2, the Backstreet Boys will be the first pop artists to perform inside the iconic venue.
Legacy Motor Club co-owner Jimmie Johnson spoke on the collaboration saying, “we’re thrilled to work with Live Nation and Vibee, and bring partners known for creating best-in-class fan experiences, to the NASCAR stage. We had successful campaigns with Guns N’ Roses and Creed in the past, and Backstreet Boys will be just as fun. The number 42 Toyota Camry looks really cool, and we can’t wait for fans to see the Backstreet Boys represented on track.”
Driver John Hunter Nemechek added, “I’m beyond excited to have the Backstreet Boys on board our Toyota Camry for Las Vegas. Their music is legendary, and to have them represented on our car is really special. Hopefully, we can put on a great show and take this ride to Victory Lane — because as they say, ‘I want it that way!’ “
The Backstreet Boys will be the latest musical act to decorate the hood of a NASCAR racer. Racing site Jayski.com has ranked their 10 Greatest Band/Musician Paint Schemes.
