In a doubleheader weekend the Cup and Xfinity Series traveled to Circuit of the Americas for some road course racing with a new track configuration that shortened the course from 3.41 miles to 2.4 miles. 

The race featured a stage three filled with clean hard racing and no late race caution in the Cup Series that resulted in Christopher Bell going back to back in race wins.

William Byron takes over the points lead with 116 points – two points ahead of Ryan Blaney.  Reigning Cup Series champion Joey Logano is bac in 13th place.
