On February 2 the Recording Academy presented the 67th annual Grammy Awards.  With the recent wildfires devastating the city of Los Angeles, the ceremonies were understandably somewhat subdued and focused on honouring the city of Los Angeles and those affected by the devastation.

Will Smith returned to the award stage as he narrated the tribute for Quincy Jones who died last year.

Trevor Noah returned to host the annual event which led to a few unexpected moments.  Taylor Swift and Beyonce were both up for the Album of the Year – already a five time winner, Swift would set a new record if she won; whereas, Beyonce has been nominated numerous times but has yet to win the Album of the Year.  Swift still holds the record at five but Beyonce finally won her Album of the Year award for her album “Cowboy Carter”.

The Carter family is overjoyed; but social media has been less than complimentary over the win.
