Other than some animals in the zoo, the only thing I have seen that can be called a wild animal are the squirrels that run around the yard. However, I have been told that there were some racoons and skunk in the backyard. I never saw the skunk, but I have smelled him.
In my old neighbourhood there were a lot of squirrels and it was not uncommon to see them running around the yard. A neighbour once told me about a black squirrel that would keep his “stash” in the man’s mailbox!
At the zoo in Rochester, New York I got to feed a visiting giraffe. He was eating crackers right out of our hands!
And the polar bears were fascinating. I spent a lot of time watching them play in the water.
The Aquarium in Niagara Falls is filled with creatures from the sea that have been rescued. The penguins are fun to watch.
Each fall up at the Power Vista is a Wildlife Festival that includes a number of feathered animals and there is a guy who does a show with monkeys.
But I can’t say that I have ever taken a hike in the woods and come upon any of the denizens of the wild.
