British pop singer and songwriter Albert Hammond wrote a song “It Never Rains in Southern California”; well, it never snows in Pensacola, Florida either but each December hundreds of race car drivers from all around the world gather for the Super Late Model race known as the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
Among the list of entrants in this year’s Snowball Derby are several drivers from NASCAR including last year’s winner and the 2024 Craftsman Truck Series champion Ty Majeski. Joining Majeski in the Snowball Derby are Sammy Smith, Derek Kraus, William Sawalich in the Kevin Harvick car, Noah Gragson, David Gilliland, Bubba Pollard, and Craftsman Truck Series newcomer Gio Ruggiero.
Running just before the holidays, the Snowball Derby also features holiday themed cars. The Minions, the Grinch, and reindeer all make an appearance in this year’s holiday themed cars on numerous cars including those driven by Nick Loden, Jimmy Renfrew Jr, Dawson Sutton, Kasey Kleyn, Jason Vail, Luke Baldwin, Brandon Lopez, Sylas Ripley, Spencer Davis, Jeremy Williams, Vito Cancilla, and Michael Hinde.
