Heartthrob singer Liam Payne died October 16, 2024 as the result of a fall at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  He was 31.

In recent years, Payne had been vocal about his battle with alcoholism.

Payne first came to the attention of music fans when he was one of many singers who auditioned on the musical competition show “The X Factor” in 2010.  While Payne was not choses as one of the solo artists to move on to the live shows, head judge Simon Cowell paired up fellow singers Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson to form a “boy band”.  The guys chose the name One Direction and went on to pack houses with screaming fans.

In 2016, the guys went their separate ways to pursue the solo careers they were seeking when Cowell had seen “something” in the quintet that would make them a success.

Along with his One Direction band mates, Payne has collaborated with Quavo, Zedd, J Balvin, and Rita Ora.  He has had his music streamed billions of times.

Liam James Payne was born August 29, 1993 in Wolverhampton, England.  The youngest of three children and the only boy, young Laim had his heart set on becoming a runner.  But when he failed to make the school team at age 14; he turned his attention to music and singing.

Payne is survived by his seven year old son Bear Grey, parents Karen and Geoff, and sisters Ruth and Nicola.
