It was a cut off weekend for both the Xfinity and Cup Series this past weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway and The Roval – 12 became eight as just four races remain in the 2024 season.
Car owner Rick Hendrick and his Hendrick Motorsports had all four of their cars in the round of eight…until a disqualification after post race inspection found that Alex Bowman’s car did not meet the weight requirements. Bowman was disqualified and place in last place and out of the playoffs. Joey Logano became the final driver to join Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Wiliam Byron, Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Tyler Reddick as the round of eight playoff drivers.
Hendrick Motorsports has decided not to appeal the disqualification penalty for Alex Bowman.
The points have been reset and the bonuses added putting Kyle Larson at the top after his sixth win of the season.
