The weekend before the annual Prime Time Emmy Awards, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presents the Creative Arts Emmys. This past weekend the series based on the James Clavell book “Shogun” topped the list with 14 Awards to set a new record for most wins after setting a record for nominations with 25.
Also notable was Jamie Lee Curtis and Angela Basset earned their first Emmy’s.
Songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul became the newest members of the EGOT club when they won their first Emmy Awards for a song they wrote for “Only Murders in the Building”. They won their Oscar for “La La Land” and a Grammy and Tony Awards for “Dear Evan Hansen”.
The Prime Time Emmy Awards will air September 15 with actors Dan and Eugene Levy (the first father and son duo to do so) hosting the gala event.
