NASCAR returns after a break for the Olympics in Paris with a double header at Richmond Raceway. The Craftsman Truck Series gets the weekend started with the Clean Harbors 250 for some short track Saturday night racing.
A total of 37 teams have brought trucks to Richmond including Cars Series driver Connor Hall who is making his Truck Series debut for 36 starting spots for the final race in the regular season.
Hurricane Debby has moved through and left hot sunny skies behind. Air temperatures are in the 90’s with track temps well over 100 degrees for the 20 minute practice session and qualifying before the drivers race under the lights.
Ben Rhodes topped the leaderboard after practice with teammates Ty Majeski right behind him.
The first driver on the track to make a qualifying run is Trey Hutchens who posted a time of 24.458 seconds. He got a bit loose on his first lap but saved the truck.
Jerry Bohlman spins out on his qualifying lap and kept it off the wall.
The King Richard Petty is the Grand Marshall for tonight’s race and will give the command to start engines.
Layne Riggs was the first driver to break the 23 second mark with a time of 22.946 seconds.
With a time of 22.755 seconds, Christian Eckes put his number 19 truck on the pole with Ty Majeski starting alongside on the front row.
Trey Hutchens failed to qualify for the race.

Lap 30, there are now 30 trucks on the lead lap with Ty Majeski leading the way nearly two seconds out in front.
Lap 38, Ty Majeski now has a lead of nearly three seconds on Christian Eckes; Grant Enfinger, Taylor Gray, and Layne Riggs continue to round out the top five.
Lap 41, Ty Majeski has a near three second lead on Christian Eckes with 26 trucks on the lead lap.
Lap 45, Ty Majeski’s lead is down to under two and a half seconds but is amid a lot of traffic. There are 24 trucks on the lead lap.
Lap 48, Ty Majeski’s lead is now under two seconds on Christian Eckes.
Lap 50, Taylor Gray passes Grant Enfinger for third.
Lap 56 Matt Mills gets into the wall to bring out the first caution flag of the race.

Drivers come down pit road for fresh tires with William Sawalich taking only two tires and wins the race off of pit road.
Nick Sanches is stopped at the entrance of pit road and needs a push to his pit box. He is reporting some clutch issues.

Connor Zilisch gets into the wall and brings out the ninth caution flag of the race with 13 laps to go. Chase Purdy makes contact with Bret Holmes; who then makes contact with Zilisch, sending him spinning.
