As the world enters the “dog days” of August, it was a big day for the athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. A total of 50 countries have now earned medals with the United States continuing to lead in the total medal count. It was a big day for the Americans who added a total of seven medals to their count including a gold for Simone Biles in the Women’s All Around Finals in gymnastics. The People’s Republic of China hold on to the lead in gold medals with eleven; the U.S. has moved up to take second with nine.
The People’s Republic of China, the United States of America, France, Australia, Japan, Great Britain, the Republic of Korea, and Italy reman the only countries with double digits in total medal counts.
