For the first time, Mercury Studios is releasing a special edition 2CD and DVD package of “Rainbow: Live in Munich 1977”.  Previously, the performance was available only on CD or DVD but never together.

Rainbow toured Europe in 1977 but Munich is the live performance recorded that featured Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, and Cozy Powell in the lineup.  Blackmore appeared at the venue just before the band was scheduled to perform after being smuggled out of Austria.  There had been some trouble with the police after the gig two night earlier.

Blackmore formed Rainbow in 1975 and the band lasted until 1983.

Along with the music, the DVD includes a photo gallery, a slideshow with audio commentary, and interviews.
