It has been a busy Silly Season in NASCAR this year with the announcement of Stewart-Haas Racing shutting down, Gene Haas forming his own team, some teams adding cars, and plenty of crew and driver shifts.
On July 25, Corey LaJoie who currently drives the number seven Spore Motorsports car announced that he would not be returning to the number seven car next season.
Speaking on the decision LaJoie said, “I won’t be driving the seven car next year. I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately, the future won’t involve me. We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans and friends who have supported me since Day one in the Cup Series.”
He added, “this chapter ends after Phoenix, and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next.”
Corey LaJoie has spent the past four seasons driving the number seven car for Spire Motorsports where in 129 races his best finish is a fourth place – a feat he has accomplished three times, all at the Superspeedway tracks.
Currently in 28th place in the point standings, LaJoie has been a driver in the Cup Series for the past 10 years.
