What bothers you and why?
As a journalist, I am often perturbed by the language used by broadcasters; especially the ones who broadcast sporting events.
I think every person who gets a job as a broadcaster should first take an English grammar class; if nothing else to learn some of the basics when it comes to the use of verbs.
I understand that different parts of the country use words in a different manner or have a dialect all their own; but when speaking before a national audience, broadcasters need to use some basic proper grammar.
I have a friend that we can get pretty crazy when talking with each other but we both know how to talk properly when in public.
He did it…not he done it!
And for Pete’s sake, learn the proper use of go, went, gone! He went down the road, He has gone away.
There are days that I cringe while listening to the language used by the broadcasters during a race. Good Grief, the foreign born drivers speak better English!
Knowing how some of these people talk, it would be very interesting to see something that they wrote and see if that was any better.
