Major League Baseball kicks off the All Star Week festivities with the MLB Draft from Fort Worth, Texas.

High school graduates are eligible; but once a player reaches college, he must be a junior or senior in order to be eligible.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred opens the 2024 Draft with a message of welcome.

The Cleveland Guardians are the first team on the clock.  This is the first time the Guardians (Indians) have ever had the first time overall pick.  The Cleveland Guardians select second baseman Travis Bazzana from Oregon State University.  Bazzana is a native of Australia.  He is the first second baseman to be selected first in the overall draft.

The Cincinnati Reds select pitcher Chase Burns from Wake Forest.

The Colorado Rockies select outfielder Charlie Condon from Georgia.

The Oakland Athletics select first baseman Nick Kurtz form Wake Forest.

The Chicago White Sox select pitcher Hagen Smith from Arkansas.

The Kansas City Royals select first baseman/pitcher Jac Caglianone from the University of Florida.

The St. Louis Cardinals select short stop JJ Wetherholt from West Virginia.

The Los Angeles Angles select second baseman Christian Moore from the College World Series champions University of Tennessee.

The Pittsburgh Pirates select short stop Konnor Griffin from Jackson Prep High School in Mississippi.
