The Theatre Hall of Fame was created in 1970 by James M. Nederlander, Earl Blackwell, and Gerald Oestreicher. Each year eight new members are inducted for their lifetime achievement in the theatre. A theatre professional becomes eligible for induction 25 years after first entering the American Theatre as a p.erformer, pioneer, or leader.
