In the hours after the Xfinity Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, NASCAR announced that Matt DiBenedetto had been disqualified from the race after it was discovered in the post race inspection process that the number 38 car had three lug nuts improperly secured on a single tire. DiBenedetto and the RSS Racing team lost all of their points and was placed in last place in the finishing order. No further penalties have been issued over the infraction.
On June 25, NASCAR issued the weekly penalty report with a single infaction in the Xfinity Series.
Young Motorsports crew member Dennis Powell has been suspended for the next race at Nashville Superspeedway after he improperly installed the rear axle in the number 42 car driven by Leland Honeyman. The infraction later caused a wreck involving Honeyman on the track. Honeyman finished 37th in the 38 car field.
According to the NASCAR rule book, the infraction violates Section 10.5.2.5.G: Loss or separation of an improperly installed rear axle from the vehicle.
