Rocker Ronnie James Dio died in 2010 after a battle with stomach cancer; but before that he lived the dream of many rockers – to constantly perform and tour.
In honour of Dio, Niji Entertainment and BMG are releasing a limited edition package “The Complete Donington Collection” on July 19.
The five LP package features the full performances from Dio’s 1983 and 1987 Donington Festival performances.
Speaking on the festivals, widow Wendy Dio said, “fond memories of sitting on the grass and watching the bands play. This is an amazing Collection; 1983 when Ronnie had just recently formed the Dio Band and again in 1987. Ronnie always enjoyed playing in Britain, he loved the audiences and the beer!”
Dio and his band performed at Donington in 1983 only three months after the release of their debut album.
Along with his own band, Dio has been a part of Rainbow and Black Sabbath.
Dio has been gone over a dozen years, but continues to be a huge influence with some two and a half million followers on Facebook and Spotify.
