The Craftsman Truck Series kicks off a triple header weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway with the Toyota 200.  This is also the second week of the Triple Truck Challenge.  Nick Sanchez won the first race and $50,000; if he wins on Saturday, he can earn an additional $150,000.

This race marks the end of five straight weeks of racing for the Truck Series.  After this race, the drivers will have a three week break and just four more races in the regular season.

Thirty-two teams have brought trucks to Gateway this weekend including a debuts for Andres Perez de Lara and Lucke Fenhaus.


Stewart Friesen has failed the inspection process two times and is making a third attempt to make it through in order to get out on the track for a practice run.  Friesen’s truck passed inspection on the third try and is out on the track in the top 20.  Only six trucks made it through the inspection process on the first try.  Inspection wasn’t the only issue for Friesen today, he had airplane issues on his way getting to the track.

Christian Eckes is reporting some brake issues on his practice run.

Corey Heim is reporting that the “feel” of the truck is wrong in turns three and four.

Ty Majeski dominates practice with the fastest lap and multi-lap runs.

Clint Bowyer is stepping away from the broadcast booth when the Truck Series goes to Nashville.  He will be taking over the driving duties of the number seven truck.

The first truck on the track to make a qualifying run is Keith McGee who posted a time of 34.625 seconds around the mile and a quarter track.

Luke Fenhaus got loose on his qualifying run, but managed to save the truck and still post a sub 34 second qualifying lap.

Corey Heim is the first driver to break the 33 second mark with a time of 32.896 seconds.

Bret Holmes will not make a qualifying run.

After leading all of the stats in practice, Ty Majeski posted a qualifying run of 32.475 seconds.  The time was good enough for Majeski to earn his third pole of the season with Christian Eckes alongside on the front row.

When Cup Series qualifying ended the sun had come out; but before the Truck Series race could begin, the rains came and track drying has commenced.  The race has been further delayed due to some popup showers.  NASCAR is hopeful of getting the race in as track drying efforts continue.

Tanner Gray will have to start the race from the back of the field after the crew made some unapproved adjustments to the truck.

Normally in the broadcast booth, Michael Waltrip is moving down to pit road for today’s race.  With Adam Alexander in Portland, Jamie Little joins Phil Parsons in the broadcast booth.  Joey Logano rounds out the broadcast crew for today’s race.

Stages one and two are 35 laps each with stage three lasting 90 laps for a total of 160 laps.  The drivers can run 60 to 70 laps on a single load of fuel.

Ty Majeski brings the field down for the green flag start from the outside lane with Christian Eckes alongside.  Majeski gets out in front for the lead with Eckes on his bumper.

Lap two, the top five are Ty Majeski, Christian Eckes, Nick Sanchez, Stewart Friesen, and Dean Thompson.

After being disqualified last week due to lug nut iddues, Corey Heim is looking to move up quickly.

Just four laps into the race, Tanner Gray has already moved up to 25th after starting the race from the back of the field due to unapproved adjustments.

Lap six, ty Majeski has a half second lead on Christian Eckes; Nick Sanchez, Stewart Friesen, and Dean Thompson round out the top five.

Lap nine, Ty Majeski has a near one second lead on Christian Eckes; Nick Sanchez, Stewart Friesen, and Dean Thompson continue to round out the top five.

The first caution flag of the race comes out on lap 10 when Luke Fenhaus spins out and slides down the track.  On the inside of the track, Fenhaus doesn’t hit anything and gets the truck moving again.

The drivers can make a stop on pit road now and stay out on the track until the end of stage two.

Some of the drivers back in the field come down pit road for service; while the leaders stay out.

Ty Majeski brings the field down for the green flag restart from the outside lane on lap 16.  Majeski edges out Christian Eckes but Eckes comes up on the inside to pass for the lead.

Lap 17, Christian Eckes leads the race with Ty Majeski in second; Nick Sanchez, Stewart Friesen, and Dean Thompson round out the top five.

Lap 18 Christian Eckes gets loose after Ty Majeski took the air off of Eckes’ spoiler and Majeski retakes the lead.

Stewart Friesen passes Nick Sanchez for third.

Lap 20, Ty Maski has pulled out to a lead of over half a second on Christian Eckes.

Ben Rhodes is reporting some shifting issues.

Lap 28, Matt Crafton is reporting some electrical issues.

Ty Majeski holds a lead of over half a second on Christian Eckes; Nick Sanchez has gotten back around Stewart Friesen for third with Corey Heim rounding out the top five.

Ben Rhodes reports that he cannot put his truck in third, the truck is in fourth.

Luke Fenhaus is the only driver not on the lead lap.

Lap 34, one of the drivers who made a pit stop, Tanner Gray has moved up to 15th place.

Drivers come down pit road with Nick Sanchez winning the race off of pit road after taking only two tires.

Daniel Dye was caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Tanner Gray brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two with Connor Mosack alongside on lap 42.

Drivers are getting three wide in a battle for position.

Lap 43,  Tanner Gray leads the race with Connor Mosack in second; Colby Howard, Nick Sanchez, and Ben Rhodes round out the top five.  Ty Majeski is back in seventh place.

Lap 45, Tanner Gray has pulled out to a lead of two seconds on Connor Mosack; Nick Sanchez, Ben Rhodes, and Colby Howard round out the top five.

The caution flag comes out for Colby Howard with a flat tire that put him into the wall.

Colby Howard’s truck is on the wrecker and becomes the first driver out of the race.

So far today, there have been three caution flags – two for on track incidents; over the past two years, there have been a total of eleven caution flags.

Lap 60 the drivers are getting aggressive on the track and running three wide for position.

With six laps remaining in stage two, Colby Howard is the only driver out of the race; the remainder of the field is on the lead lap.

Lap 80, Corey Heim has a half second lead on Tyler Ankrum; Ty Majeski, Nick Sanchez, and Daniel Dye round out the top five.

All of the drivers will have to make a pit stop some time in this stage.

Lap 82, ty Majeski passes Tyler Ankrum for second; Corey Heim has a near one second lead.

Lap 84, second place driver Ty Majeski is slowly closing the gap on leader Corey Heim.

Lap 90, Corey Heim has a lead of nearly a second on Ty Majeski; Nick Sanchez, Tyler Ankrum and Ben Rhodes round out the top five.

Ben Rhodes passes Tyler Ankrum for third.

Christian Eckes passes Tyler Ankrum for fourth.

With 67 laps remaining in the race, Corey Heim has a one second lead on Ty Majeski; Nick Sanchez, Ben Rhodes, and Christian Eckes round out the top five.

Taylor Gray is on pit road, several laps down, with brake issues.

With 64 laps remaining in the race, Corey Heim has increased his lead to over a second on Ty Majeski; Nick Sanchez, Ben Rhodes, and Christian Eckes round out the otp five.

In the six years of the Triple Truck Challenge, Sheldon Creed is the only driver who has won more than one of the TTC races with three; no one has managed to win the big prize of $500,000 for winning all three races.

Lap 116, Corey Heim is the first driver to make a green flag pit stop to begin the cycle of stops.  Nick Sanchez is the new leader.

Lap 125, Nick Sanchez has yet to make his green flag pit stop; along with eight other drivers.

Lap 127, Nick Sanchez comes down pit road for service.  Tanner Gray is the new leader.

Ap 129, Tanner Gray makes his pit stop and gives the lead over to Chase Purdy.

Vicente Salas brings out the caution flag on lap 130 when he spins out and hits the wall…right in front of Corey Heim!

Chase Purdy leads the drivers who have yet to make a pit stop down pit road for service including Tanner Gray who had started to come down pit road when the caution flag came out – he continued to driver down pit road without making a stop.
