It’s a triple header weekend with the Xfinity Series filled with Cup Series drivers on the track and in the broadcast booth for the Driver’s Only broadcast. Brad Keselowski and Austin Cindric are in the studio; Joey Logano, Erik Jones, and Ryan Blaney are in the broadcast booth with Carson Hocevar and Josh Berry in the pits.
It’s home week with the races at Charlotte Motor Speedway; a total of 40 drivers are vying for 38 starting spots in the Bet MGM 300 including Cup Series drivers Ty Gibbs, Chase Elliott, Noah Gragson, and Kyle Busch.
In a single 20 minute practice session, all 40 drivers will be on the track together on the mile and a half track. After the practice session, Cole Custer led the field with the top five drivers all Xfinity Series regulars.
After practice, Cole Custer noted that the track is very slick; adding that practice was a handful.
Kyle Weatherman had some tail pipe issues with his car and did not make a lap.
The first car on the track to make a qualifying run is Noah Gragson who posted a time of 31.188 seconds.
A nine time Charlotte Motor Speedway winner, Kyle Busch broke the 31 second mark with a time of 30.598 seconds.
Akinori Ogata spun out on the track after getting very loose and stopped just short of the inside wall.
AJ Allmendinger also noted that his car has good speed but was a handful to drive. He added that he is holding his breath a lot.
JJ Yeley got loose and spun out on the track but avoided hitting the wall.
Of the 20 cars to make a qualifying run so ar, Kyle Busch is the only driver to make a lap under 31 seconds.
Jeb Burton, the 26th driver on the track, is only the second driver to break the 31second mark with 30, 770 seconds.
With a time of 30.475 seconds, Ty Gibbs will sit on the pole with Kyle Busch starting alongside on the front row.

Stages one and two are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 110 laps for a total of 200 laps around the mile and a half track. The drivers can run 55 to 60 laps on a single load of fuel.
There are four Cup Series drivers in today’s race with a total of eleven Charlott Motor Speedway wins among them – Kyle Busch has nine of them!
Ty Gibbs brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane with Kyle Busch alongside. Gibbs jumps out in front for the lead with Kyle Busch in second.
Lap three, Ty Gibbs has pulled out to a one second lead on Kyle Busch; Chandler Smith, Jesse Love, and Jeb Burton round out the top five.
Lap six, all four of the Cup Series drivers are in the top 20 with Ty Gibbs leading the race by nearly a second over Kyle Busch; Noah Gragson is in 18th and Chase Elliott is in 20th.
Lap seven, the top five are Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch, Chandler Smith, Jeb Burton, and Jesse Love.
Lap nine, Cole Custer battles with Jesse Love for fifth.
Lap 10, Justin Allgaier passes Cole Custer for sixth.
Lap 16, Ty Gibbs has a lead of nearly a second on Kyle Busch; now in third, Justin Allgaier is over five seconds back.
Lap 17, the top five are Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch, Justin Allgaier, Chandler Smith, and Cole Custer.
Lap 20, Kyle Busch has closed the gap on leader ty Gibbs to under half a second; Justin Allgaier is in third nearly five seconds back with Cole Custer and Brandon Jones rounding out the top five.
Lap 22, Kyle Busch has caught lead Ty Gibbs and passes him to take the lead.
Lap 25, Kyle Busch has a half second lead on Ty Gibbs; Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones, and Cole Custer round out the top five with a large pack of cars behind them in a battle for position.
Lap 27, Natalie Decker is the first car to go one lap down.
The first caution flag of the season comes out on lap 31 when AJ Allmendinger makes contact with Riley Herbst and sends Herbst around and into the wall. There is significant damage to Herbert’s car.
Drivers come down pit road for service with Ty Gibbs winning the race off of pit road after nearly hitting Kyle Busch on pit road.
Brandon Jones is reporting some possible brake issues.
Riley Herbst’s car is on the wrecker and he is the first driver out of the race.
Matt DiBenedetto was charged with a safety violation and has to restart the race from the back of the field.
After staying out on the track, Jesse Love brings the field down for the green flag restart with Chase Elliott alongside on lap 37, Ty Gibbs shoves Chase Elliot out of the way to take the lead with Justin All Gaier in second; Kyle Busch, Brandon Jones, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five.
Anthony Alfredo is up agains the wall and reports that he has a flat tire.

Lap 41, Justin Allgaier battles Ty Gibbs for the lead.
Lap 42, Justin Allgaier takes the lead.

Justin Allgaier wins stage one for his seventh stage win of the season. He has the most stage wins of any driver this season.

Lap 134, Sam Mayer has increased his lead to over a second and a half on Kyle Busch.
