During the race at Richmond Raceway on April 3 Joey Gase and Dawson Cram were involved in an on track incident that resulted in Gase throwing his rear bumper cover at Cram. The infraction resulted in a $5,000 fine for Gase; which was appealed.
On April 24, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel upheld the penalty for violating Sections 8.8.8K of the NASCAR Rule Book which states: “A safety violation may be imposed for any action or omission by a Competitor or vehicle that creates an unsafe environment or poses a threat to the safety of the Competitors, as determined by NASCAR.”
Gase has one more chance for an appeal to the National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer.
